Nowadays, increasing number of people think that nurture strongly influences early human 's development.Lots of factors can affect the growth of children,for example,the environment.This essay is about how the environment influences the development of children.
Environment mostly affect children's growth. As we know, when we were born, there are not any difference between us except the nature,such as appearance, gene,sex... As we grow up, we speak different languages, wearing different clothes, eating different food. This is due to we are from different countries and regions ,we have different culture and religions,and we study different things since we were born. It means that it is not the matter that people who was born in UK can speak English certainly. If they were born in UK, but growing up in China, they would speak Chinese very well.in a word, environment changes us. So there is a question: which environment mostly factors influence our growth ?
Firstly,the family give us lots of impacts.For one things, when we were born, our parents were our first teachers,and also will be our teacher for many years even in our whole lives.we learn numerous things from our parents and our families, such as basic skills.knowledge,hobbies and habits. For another, a good family environment is also a great influence on children. A harmonious family will allow their children grow up healthily.But if a children grew up in a violent family environment ,their personalities would be changed a lot.
Secondly, we learn plenty of skills ,knowledge,and other things from school. Academic study can improve our theoretical knowledge and skills. Academic studying is necessary. At first,In school,children can learn lots of professional knowledge which parents can not teach us. With these knowledge, children could improve their personal ability,and these capability make them possible to solve different problems by themselves. The second one, school has a good studying atmosphere. With this atmosphere, children could learn lots of knowledge quickly and easily.
Lastly, most of our personalities are influenced by our friends. If our friend was interested in sprots,and talked about everyday, we would be interested in sports too. That means our interest, hobbies and habits could be changed by our friends. It is easy to have the same interest,hobbies and habits with our friends.

Presentation Review - Freya
On Friday, Taishan and I made a presentation about education, so here I try to summarize some information which I hope could be helpful to the following presenters. Firstly, to attract the audience’s attention, we managed to make the presentation not to bore everyone. Therefore, there were many funny pictures that let the procedure vivid. In addition, amendment is so necessary that could enrich the content. For example, after several times of revising, we added the slides from only six slides to about twenty. Thirdly, I think a dry run of a presentation is crucial. We needed more practice of the process about how to control the time of slides and voice. And we also separately did it again. However, we have many shortcomings of the presentation. When I reviewed our work, I felt it lack of logicality and connections between subtitles. Besides, the music voice was generally thought too loud. Moreover, I always was nervous when I spoke English, and Taishan needed more eye contact with listeners. Finally, I desire what I said would be useful to everyone!

It is obvious that nurture is more important in early human development. In the first place,infants' emotions and their caregivers' behavior can help early brain development.For example,infants smile along with them and imitate their action.In the second place,different enviroments,different people.For instance,if the babies grow up without human contact or somehow adopted by animals,they will become feral children,such as wolf children.
I would also agree that nature can affect early human development.The reason is that genes decide the color of skin, eyes and hair.Obviously,the twins ofen display some same characters.Even so,if they grow in different enviroments,they will change and have different characters.

If the basic education is giving everyone a base to build their brilliant future, academic study will give them the direction of the future.We choose an area that we are interested in and take a specific course. As we know, academic study is a very important part of our school education.
There are some important aims for undertaking academic study, include a desire for future career purpose , gain knowledge , personal growth and so on . This essay is regard to identify the academic study aims and the efficient ways to achieve them.
For my opinion, to develop personal growth is the most important one, the purpose of education is to know who you are , and what you can do. Then you will realize the advantage and disadvantage you have. The more you understand yourself , the better you can do. Personal growth not only means your physical had grow up , but also means your phyche is mature. You know what you do and responsible your behaviour. Then, you will take good prepare for your career.

Learner Diary 1- Nero(Niu Shuai)
Nowadays, English is playing a significant roles in our life. More and more people start learning English. In the process of learning English, different people have different problems. As me, grammar is the biggest problem which i must work hard on. If we make some mistakes in grammar, we can not accurately express our meaning. Some misunderstanding must be made in our communication.
In my opinion, the methods to reduce the mistakes in grammar in class is listening carefully, asking questions when we are not sure the grammar, and doing plenty of practices. Outside classroom, we should finish the assignments on time. And another method which i believe it is quite useful is that to read some formal books as many as you can, such as academic books and fictions. The correct structure of sentences and articles will be found. we can learn that how to make s sentence exactlly.
Overall, grammar is the biggest problem for me. Certainly, I also have many problems in the other areas. Lots of skills must be improved. A vast mumber of vocabularies must be learnt. So I hope that I can speak English fluently when the class will have been finished. And also essay will be finished easily and prefectly.

I have been here for 4 months,I graduated from ELPPD,I think I can do everything myself after class.Though I know I already have a lot of problem in English study,I think I can do better than before as I was a ELPP student.
The four parts of English study I must study as before,because there are a lot of problem for me.Like a lot words I do not know,and always cannot catch the native people.
First , READING,as everyone know,we can practice ourselves by reading newspaper everyday,magazine,or some books from the library.
Second,WRITING,to finish the homework,to write diary everyday in English or write letter with your friends in English.
Third,SPEAKING,there are a lot of international student in our univercity,and a lot of native student,we can practice our speaking with them,and we also can practice our speaking everywhere,because we are in UK.It is a English country.
The last, listening,as my experience,BBC 6 MINUTES ENGLISH is very good,we can practice our listening here,when you do everything,you can listen to it and to get with it.
Finaly,I think the teachers in the study group are very good,they can help us with all the problem of the English study.If we can catch them in the classes,I think we will be better than before.

I think you know what is the answer when you ask this question. The answer is close to same. For example， do more practice， contact with other， work hard or beyond. But these are not actually. It sounds like I want to become a millionaire， and I need work hard or something， but the point is how to drive your plan. Everyone can say what they want， and you can see the diary is more like a homework， but not a communication， I think it is not your aim.
I think my problem is vocabulary， I always forget what I just remember，but this is not the point. When somebody really want to learn something， he will try his best to achieve it， not just thinking or talking. I want to say something which could be useful.
You are a new teacher, you have more passional， we are the close age， these are very good for us. I was very scared for my English when I just arrived British， so I tried anything what I can do，and there is something I think it working. Listen to the radio all the time， whatever you are doing， because it can make you used to the speed of speaking， it can make your subconscious working. Included sleeping， playing game or other thing. For a student， we need the confidence which is come from teacher， for example， you ask me some questions， my answer is wrong， and next time you ask me again，or talk with us， everytime you talk to me that is very lucky for me，but you know I am not good at talking （but it is better than before），it is not mean I don't like to talk with you， I think most of the student have the same fell， these can build our confidence. And give us more chance who is not better than other. We often have many problems in the class， but we dun dare to ask it in the class， maybe we are worry about other one who will jeer， I don't know how to solve it.

What areas of English do you feel you need to work on?
Due to studying Japanese the whole year in 2009, I find my English is much worse than before, especially in writing and listening. Although I can understand many words when I read the paragraph, I cannot write them fluently. As for listening, it was difficult to pass listening test, but I could catch on to what teachers and friends said.
Talking about speaking, the biggest problem is that I was so nervous that my voice sounded quivered as I spoke English.
Reading is my best aspect that I just would like to improve my reading speed. I hope I could read English as quickly as Chinese.
In short, I think I should attach importance to every part of studying English.
What can you do to improve these areas, either inside or outside the classroom?
From Monday, I have planned to listen to BBC and to exercise my writing speed about an hour every day. Movever reading more books can expand my vocabulary and broaden my horizon as well. In addition, I ought to communicate with others to enhance my speaking. For example, I will make the best of kitchen's time that talk with the flatmates as much as possible. Finally, I should dare to express my opinion in class.
What do you hope to achieve in this class?
I understand it is my own responsibility to improve my English, but I hope I can get some useful skills from this class to make this process of learning as efficient as possible. So that my life in this new country would become easier and leave me a good memory in my life.

This is my first time to study abroad in UK. I really found some weakness in my English level as i stayed here only 7 days. I feel it hard to communicate with local britishmen in English regardless of my speaking and oral English.
For the time being, i should adapt the ways of English talking and accept the way of thinking as soon as possible. I would try to practise my oral language with British students or teachers mostly. Regardless of either inside or outside the classroom, i should encouraged myself to talk and listen frequently.
Hopely, i want to improve my English ability up to a higher level with the help of teacher's induction. I believe i will do better in the near future.

For my part, I have to improve my English writting and reading part, these areas are my weakness. Writting is very important, everyone need to do assignment even dissertation, I should learn how to express my opinions exactly and accurate. Unfortunately, my vocabulary is very limited. others can undertand what am I talk about, but not perfect. Grammar skills also need improve...my reading part exist the similar problems. when you reading, but cannot understand exactly meanings, it is can lead to misunderstanding.
In my opinion, I need pay 100% attention during the class, and pay my best to participate it. Try to make more firends who are from different countires, and speaking English both class and free time. On the other side, listening BBC &VOA also a quite good idea. I like study different culture and meet people, travel is also a glorious way to both study and relax.
So far, I am very enjoy my class, I hope I will step up a new level, a different me...I believe that where there is a will, there is a way. no one is a perfect person, but if our pay more effect on weakness part, finally will be change to a beautiful butterfly.

In my opinion, I need pay 100% attention during the class, and pay my best to participate it. Try to make more firends who are from different countires, and speaking English both class and free time. On the other side, listening BBC &VOA also a quite good idea. I like study different culture and meet people, travel is also a glorious way to both study and relax.

Talking about my English , I think I should work harder to learn.Wheather in listening ,speaking ,reading ,or writing ,should be more practice . In the past learning , English is not my major subject ,so English have a little strange for me.
In the listening , I feel my vocabulary is not enough . Because when people talk about to me or join in the listening test . I can not hear the some one say the word clear. In the speaking , I felt a lack of exercise , so it is always not an accurate expression of meaning. For the reading , I think the problem the same as the listening , so the vocabulary is very important . Of course , the method is also important to read .If not the right way ,you can not read the article quickly. For the writing , I should practice more and more ，and try to writing diaries or reading what is learned . So that training is not only the logic of the essays , but also will not forget the spelling of the word .
Whether in the classroom ,or after school . I think the conversation with others is a fast way to improve , not only to practice listening , and speaking practice . And reading some books , magazines or newpapers when we are free . Then try to write something to improve . I hope that after this course finished ,my English can be fully enhanced.

Other sides, the listening test not easy, if i want pass and get high mark, I should work on it. For example, listen BBC of six minutes English or follow they speak to practice speaking.

When we come to talk about English study , the areas include Listening, Speaking, Reading and writing . All of that we should work on.
As for me, I was very enjoy communicate with each other, this could help me improve my spoken English, and further more, cause I enjoy that way , I can improve fast. If you want to improve your English, firstly, please love it. In some degree, interest is very important and helpful.

Learner Diary1-Eddie(Sung-Hsiu Yu)
I have not touched English for six months. I need time to adjust English environment and study hard. I consider that I need work on all of areas.
First of all, in listening part, when I listen the radio or BBC learning English , I can understand 70%. Sometimes I get lost , because I can not concentrate on listening. Besides, I do not know how to note-taking, because I can not distinguish where the point is. Secondly, in reading part, I read a essay which is very slowly. I can understand a essay but I do not know how to find the answer quickly and how to write paraphrase and summary. Thirdly, when I write my writing, I always write simple sentences. I seldom use complicated sentences to express my opinion. I think that this is my writing drawbak. Fourthly, when I talk to my friends or my teacher, I can not speak English fluently. Maybe I always speak Chinese with my friends , so I am lack of practice speaking English. Moreover, I do not like presentation in front of everybody,because when I am in presentation, I am alway nervous.
I must practice these four parts. I can read a newspaper to improve my reading skill and by reading a newspaper, I can learn the writer how to write a eaasy and use complicated sentences. I fortunately live in campus,so I have a lot of chances to speak English. Especially, my housemates who come from different nationalities. If we want to talk each other , we must speak English. In class, I have to cooperate with the teacher and concentrate on the class. The most important thing is I have to participate the class which practices English a good place. Besides, when the teacher gives us homework, I must do my homework. Following the teacher step, I think my English can make progress. After finishing the class, I hope that I can improve listening, reading , writing and speaking.

I think my speaking is not good enough because I can’t talk to everybody with accurately and
without making too many grammatical mistakes. Fortunately , I have confidence to talk in my own subject area .My listening is quite strange , I can listen clearly when somebody stand in front of me but If I listen to lecture from Radio that I can’t understand 100% .
My reading is quite good in my own subject area and have no idea in the area which I haven’t seen it before .Fourthly , my writing has grammar problem on the other hand I can write easily that what I want to write.
All of the areas I need to work on because I do this not good enough , I’ll concentrate in the classroom and preview and review outside the classroom. I hope that I will speaking without hesitation , listening from radio can clearly and easily to get information , reading exam will easy for me to answer the question ,and writing that I can write a perfect essay .this is all of hope to achieve in this class
